        Lake Winnipeg Boat Works was founded by Steve Johnson and Robert Magnusson who began building wood boats in 1957 in Gimli, Manitoba, an Icelandic heritage commercial fishing town on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.  Our reputation was quickly established as a builder of high quality, seaworthy commercial vessels.        
        In 1974 Lake Winnipeg Boat Works began producing fiberglass fishing vessels which at the time were considered to be a very reliable seaworthy vessel and the  choice of most commercial fishermen.  We continually strived to improve on our product over the years earning an exceptional reputation for high quality workmanship and customer service.        
        In 1993 the company was purchased by two of it’s employees, Mark Hjorleifson and Jeffrey Johannesson. Mark assumed full ownership in 1998. Jeffrey is still employed with the company as Shop Manager.        
        In 2004 we redesigned all of our boats with sleeker bows, superior splash protection, increased capacities, and above all, Level Floatation Technology. We take great pride in the level of safety features built into all of our boats. We build 21' 23' & 25' commercial duty fiberglass boats customized to your convenience. Our vessels are practically unsinkable.        
        Lake Winnipeg Boat Works is your “One Stop Marine Shop” As well as constructing the vessels, we also rig them to your choice. We are an authorized full line Mercury Dealer specializing in Optimax & Verado installations.  We are an authorized dealer for Yamaha Outboards. We carry a full line of marine accessories including VHF radios, GPS, Fishfinders, and safety gear.        
        We also manufacture commercial duty fiberglass sleds. They are 9' long, 38" wide and 16" deep.  These sleds also float ! We are currently developing a larger sled.  Details will be posted on our web site when ready.        
        Unlike the mass production world, custom boat building is the preferred specialty of Lake Winnipeg Boat Works.  Boats can be as unique as their owners !  Durable craftsmanship, quality materials and pride of ownership is built into all of our vessels.
